Want to earn $25 and get free roadside assistance in about 5 minutes? American Express is offering families a $25 gift card when you sign up and load your prepaid debit card with $200. Even better, AMEX prepaid debit cards qualify for their free roadside assistance program.
This month My Family Finances was approved by an affiliate network called Flex Offers. In normal speak, it means that I’ve agreed to post advertisements on My Family Finances that notifies my readership of various deals on financial products. Yes, it’s subjecting you to advertising and yes, it means this site gets to earn a commission. However, it’s not all about generating revenues.
At first, I had no intention of writing these types of posts; where I blatantly advertise a product. You are bombarded with advertisements every day and many of them offering overpriced products that you don’t want or need. However, I’ve run across several products that are offering useful benefits and rewards. I’d be remiss in not pointing some of the opportunities out there, especially since I plan on taking advantage of some of them myself.
The big deal for August is the American Express Prepaid Card and your reward is a $25 gift card and free roadside assistance.
Earn $25 by Signing Up and Loading $200 on an American Express Prepaid Debit Card
Until August 31st, American Express is handing out $25 gift cards to new subscribers who load up their cards with $200 or more at the time of subscription. Normally, I’d simply stick to my rewards credit card for purchases. However, the subscription reward for the American Express prepaid debit is too good to pass up. In essence you make 12.5 percent on the first $200 of purchases you make.
Get free Roadside Assistance
It gets better. Feel free to cancel your AAA membership. Signing up for your AMEX prepaid debit card also qualifies you for free roadside assistance. It includes local towing, emergency gas, battery jump, locksmith and flat tires. There is only minimal hassle in working with a third party company.
No Catch! Earn $25 for Spending $200 You Were Going to Spend Anyways
Usually prepaid debit cards are fee-ridden wastes of money. However, the Prepaid American Express card has only one fee; a $2 ATM fee if you make a withdrawal more than once a month. Most banks charge more than that!
If you are worried about the effects signing up might have on your credit score, you can sleep soundly tonight. Prepaid debit cards are not reported through the credit bureaus, so there is no risk in placing an additional card in your wallet.
This is a prepaid card, not a credit card. There are no late fees, high interest rates or long-term debts to worry about. Keep the card for the roadside assistance or cancel it after you’ve used up the balance.
As I said before, I can’t believe I’m personally promoting a financial product on this blog, but what am I to do? How could I neglect to mention $25, free roadside assistance and no fees? It’s a good product and a good deal. Can you blame me?

Wow – sounds like a pretty good deal. I’d definitely do this if I didn’t already have an Amex card (and enough cards to keep me busy with).
Nice 15% off for people who do it. The roadside assistance would have been nice last week when I locked my keys in my car.
It’s not too late to avoid future roadside assistance needs.
Wow, great minds…… I was also just approved by Flex Offers on several different advertisers!!! I didn’t see this one though…seems like a good deal.
It’s an excellent deal and the first prepaid debit card that didn’t make me cringe. You can find the deal under AMEX Prepaid cards.

Are you sure the roadside assistance service is free? The american express prepaid website says the card user is to pay for the cost associated with the service.
